MBRS wins the Runners-Up spot in the U-17 Boys’ category at the CBSE Cluster-I Basketball Tournament 2025.
The CBSE Cluster-I Basketball Tournament 2025, hosted by Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Borjhar, Guwahati, concluded on a high note on Wednesday, August 13, following three days of intense and spirited competition.
Held from August 11 to 13, the tournament featured boys’ and girls’ teams in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories, drawing participation from prominent CBSE schools across the region. The event showcased not only athletic excellence but also remarkable sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination from young athletes.
Tournament Highlights:
In the Under-14 Boys category, St. Francis De Sales School, Guwahati emerged as champions, while Army Public School, Narangi secured the runner-up position. The semi-finalists were Delhi Public School, Guwahati and Gurukul Grammar School, Guwahati. The Best Player of the Tournament was awarded to Prateek Kumar (Jersey No. 1) of APS Narangi.
The Under-17 Boys title was also clinched by St. Francis De Sales School, with the host school MBRS finishing as runners-up. DPS Guwahati and Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Guwahati made it to the semi-finals. Abu Sohail (Jersey No. 2) from MBRS was named Best Player in this category.
In the Under-19 Boys division, Eklavya Model Residential School, Sikkim took home the championship, defeating APS Narangi in the finals. Semi-finalists included DPS Guwahati and NPS Guwahati. Nima Thendup (Jersey No. 66) of EMRS Sikkim was recognized as the Best Player.
In the Girls’ categories, Eklavya Model Residential School, Sikkim emerged victorious in the Under 14 Girls Basketball Tournament, defeating Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Amingaon, Guwahati in a competitive final to claim the championship title. Faculty Higher Secondary School, Amingaon, North Guwahati, and SBOA Public School, Guwahati reached the semi-finals with commendable performances. Samikcha (Jersey No. 18) from Eklavya was named Best Player of the Tournament.
Under-17 Category, Army Public School, Narangi secured the championship in the Under 17 Girls Basketball category, overcoming St. Francis De Sales School, Guwahati in a well-fought final. The semi-finalists included Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, and St. Xavier School, Dima Hasao, both of whom demonstrated impressive play. Loumi Phukon (Jersey No. 10) of Army Public School was awarded Best Player of the Tournament for her consistent and impactful performance.
Under 19 (Girls) Category Eklavya Model Residential School, Sikkim continued their dominance by winning the Under 19 Girls Basketball Tournament, defeating Gurukul Grammar School, Guwahati in the final match. Delhi Public School, Guwahati, and Montfort School, Guwahati reached the semi-finals and showed promising talent. Edeula Bhutia (Jersey No. 88) from Eklavya Model Residential School was named Best Player of the Tournament, earning praise for her excellent game control and athleticism.
Speaking on the occasion, the host school authorities expressed pride in facilitating such a significant sports event, emphasizing the importance of athletics in shaping well-rounded individuals. The tournament concluded with medal ceremonies, team felicitations, and a strong message of camaraderie and healthy competition.
