CBSE Cluster-1 Basketball Tournament 2023: A Grand Slam of Talent and Sportsmanship

The CBSE Cluster-1 Basketball Tournament 2023 brought an explosion of talent and sportsmanship to the courts, uniting 35 CBSE schools from across North Eastern India. Held from the grand opening ceremony on October 17, 2023, to the thrilling closing ceremony on October 19, 2023, this event showcased the very best of youth basketball.

A Grand Opening:

The tournament opened with a bang at the MBRS Grand Stand. A total of 35 schools participated, fielding 33 boys’ teams and 22 girls’ teams. Mr. T.Mate, the Regional Officer of CBSE, Guwahati Region, graced the occasion as the Honorable Chief Guest. The opening ceremony was made even more special by an impressive March Past from all participating schools, demonstrating unity and discipline. However, the true silver lining was the captivating Brass Band display by the Bronsonians, adding a musical touch to the event.

The Fierce Competition:

The basketball action began immediately and continued until the closing ceremony, providing a platform for these young athletes to showcase their skills and teamwork. The matches were intense, and the spirit of competition was truly inspiring.

The Closing Ceremony:

On October 19, 2023, at the MBRS Basketball Court No. 2, the tournament reached its grand conclusion with the closing ceremony. The highlight of this ceremony was the presence of Miss Anusuya Baruah, the Honourable General Secretary of the Assam Basketball Association (ABA) and a Senior Geologist in the Department of Geology & Mining, Government of Assam. Her presence added prestige to the event, and she graced the occasion as the Honorable Chief Guest.

Champions Emerge:

In the boys’ final match, the crowd witnessed a gripping showdown between Army Public School, Narangi, and Ekalavya Model Residential School, Gangtok. Ekalavya Model Residential School, Gangtok emerged as the Champions, while Army Public School, Narangi, secured the Runners-Up position.

On the girls’ court, Ekalavya Model Residential School, Gangtok, once again displayed their supremacy, clinching the Championship. Saint Francis De Sales School, Narangi, showcased their exceptional skills and earned the title of Runners-Up.

Special Acknowledgments:

Miles Bronson Residential School’s boys’ team secured the 4th place, highlighting the fierce competition among the top schools. Furthermore, it was the Miles Bronson Residential School Girls Team that earned a special accolade by being named the Best Disciplined Team of the Tournament, underlining the importance of sportsmanship and discipline in the game.

A Grateful Farewell:

The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participating teams for embracing the tournament with their presence and athletic spirits. This event was a celebration of youth, sports, and the indomitable spirit of competition. As the tournament came to an end, all eyes turned towards the future, eagerly anticipating many more championships yet to come.
